The 2005 Journey through Aging Conference, August 26th – 27th, is a two-day forum exploring health and human service issues related to the aging population. Held in beautiful Lakeland, Florida, Journey through Aging will consist of workshops, talks and panel discussions by a variety of top medical and social service professionals. Providing the opportunity to earn up to 7 CME/CEU credits, this will be the perfect conference for registered nurses, practical nurses, physicians, physician assistants, licensed clinical social workers, pharmacists, physical/occupational therapists, psychologists/mental health therapists, dieticians, radiology technologists, and speech therapists.


This conference is a collaborative effort between the University of South Florida Lakeland, USF School of Social Work, USF Rath Senior ConNEXTions and Education Center, Watson Clinic LLP, Coalition on Aging Think Tank, and Polk County Medical Association.
None of the speakers have indicated they have a relationship to disclose relating to the subject matter presented today, with the exception
of Amanda Smith, M.D., who is a shareholder of Forest Pharmaceuticals.

Arrive early to stroll through Hollis Gardens and along the waterside of Lake Mirror. A prelude of festivities in the Peggy Brown building will feature Jazz music performed by John M. Seybert’s Quartet and delicious delicacies and wine catered by Wine & Roses. You won’t want to miss our keynote speaker, Dr. Allen H. Neims, as he discusses the synergy between spirituality, health and healing and the maintenance of wellness.

Earn up to 7 credits.
Professionals eligible for credit:
  • This activity has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 7.75 credits by the American Acadmey of Family Physicians. This includes 4.75 Prescribed and 3.0 Elective credits. Because some of the sessions run concurrently, no more than a total of 6.75 credits may be reported.
  • This program has been approved for a maximum of 7 contact hours: For clinical social work, marriage and family therapy, and mental health counseling, through the USF School of Social Work, provider number BAP432, Exp. 3/31/07, Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling.
  • This program, for a maximum of 7 contact hours, is provided for registered nurses (RN), practical nurses (LPN) and radiology technologists by the Watson Clinic, which is a provider approved by the Florida Board of Nursing, FBN 3069.
  • The University of South Florida College of Medicine is approved by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education as a provider of continuing pharmaceutcal education. This program has been approved for 7 contact hours. Universal program numbers are as follows: UPN: 230-999-05-051-L04. To receive continuing education credit, a pharmacist must attend the accredited sessions and must return the program evaluation instrument. In order to receive full credit, registrants must register no later than 10 minutes after the start of the meeting and must attend the entire meeting.
