Changing Text Editing Options in Blackboard

Text may be edited in Blackboard using Word format instead of HTML coding.

1. Click on the myUSF tab at the top of the page
2. Select User Preferences in the myUSF tools column on the left side of the page.
3. Click on Set Visual Text Box Editor Options.
4. Select Available under Manage Visual Text Box Editor.
5. Click Submit.

Elluminate
line

Elluminate Live!™ is an online synchronous (means real-time) program that allows individuals at multiple locations to communicate in a live session. These tools include audio, whiteboard, emoticons, chat, polling, web-tour, and possible video options.

ePortfolio

Blackboard
To access your ePortfolio in Blackboard, you will need to log into Blackboard. Once in, go to the tab labeled “myUSF”, and in that tab you will find a section in the middle of the page labeled “Expo Blogs and Wikis”. Under that heading, you will see the title “My Portfolios”, click it and it will take you to your ePortfolios.

  Getting Started as an Online Student

This video should help you to get started as an online student. If you have completed the online undergraduate orientation, this video was included as part of that presentation. If not, there may be some useful information for you that will help walk you through the steps of getting started as an online student.

Here are the technology requirements to consider when taking an online class. This suggested information was supplied by Academic Computing at the University of South Florida in conjunction with the Teaching and Learning Technologies department in Lakeland and the East Regional Data Center in Lakeland.

ACADEMIC COMPUTING BASELINE RECOMMENDATIONS
Pentium 4, 2 GH
512 Ram
Video Card with 32-64 MB
XP operating system (will work with Vista or 2000 as well).

To be successful, a minimum of a DSL connection and optimal is a cable connection for Internet access and for streaming audio and video with no issues. Student deals are available from the USF Computer store at: www.computerstore.usf.edu

Microsoft Recommended and Minimum Requirements
Windows XP
300 MHz or higher processor
128 MBs or higher of RAM
1.5 GBs of available hard drive space

The recommended requirements for Vista are:
1GHz or higher processor
512 MBs or higher of RAM
20 GB hard drive
32MBs of graphic memory
