Drop/Add
Once registered, students may drop and/or add
on the Web at OASIS
through the end of the first week of classes without academic
penalty.
No fees are assessed for courses dropped by the 5th day of classes
nor will those courses appear on a transcript. Classes that begin
on Saturday can be dropped until 5pm the first Monday of the second
week of classes.
After the first week of classes students may drop (no adds) through
OASIS,
or in person at the Office of Student Services through the academic
drop deadline. For fall and spring semesters this drop period
is between the 2nd and 10th week of the semester.
Courses dropped after the first week of classes are fee liable
and appear on a transcript with a "W" grade.
After the tenth week you may only drop a class by petitioning
the Academic Regulations Committee
(ARC Petition).
Withdrawing and dropping are not the same thing.
Withdrawing refers to removal of all your classes. Forms to withdraw
are available at the Office of Student Services.
Payment
Fees must be paid in full by fifth day of classes (usually a Friday,
where classes begin on Monday). Failure to pay will result in
cancellation of registration unless the student is a financial
aid recipient with a deferred payment deadline.
Cash, Checks or credit cards (except American Express) are accepted for tuition payments. Pay fees in person at the Cahsier's Office, LTB 1135, or by mail (must be postmarked by payment deadline).
For more detailed information on fees, visit Tampa’s
Tuition & Payment FAQ.
Mandatory 1st class attendance
The University of South Florida has a policy which requires all
students who attend courses to attend the first class. This policy
applies to students who have registered in courses prior to the
first day of the term and whose names are printed on the first
class roll. The first class roll is used by professors to drop
students not attending the first day in a course.
Students who add or register late during the first week of classes
will not be on the class roll and therefore will not be dropped
for non-attendance by the instructor. To avoid fee liability and
academic penalty, students are responsible for ensuring that they
have dropped or been dropped from all undesired courses by the
end of the fifth day of classes.
If a student is in doubt regarding his/her class status, it is
his or her responsibility to communicate with the instructor or
department to see whether there is still space in the class.
Students unable to attend the first class due to extenuating circumstances
MUST NOTIFY THE DEPARTMENT
BY PHONE OR IN WRITING PRIOR TO THE FIRST CLASS MEETING.
Incomplete Grade Policy
(as defined by the University
of South Florida Graduate Student Catalogue):
Incomplete (I)
An I grade indicates incomplete coursework and may be awarded
to graduate and undergraduate students (undergraduate rules apply
to all non-degree-seeking students). An I grade may be awarded,
at the discretion of the instructor, only when a small portion
of the student’s work is incomplete and only when the student
is otherwise earning a passing grade. An I grade not cleared within
the next two successive academic semesters (including summer semester)
will be converted to IF or IU, whichever is appropriate. I grades
are not computed in the GPA. IF grades are calculated in the GPA
and, if applicable, the student will be placed on academic probation
or academically dismissed. Students must not re-register for courses
in order to complete an I grade. An audit of the course should
not be required to complete the I grade. A written contract for
incomplete grades must include a description of the work to be
completed, the date by which the work is to be submitted, and
the signature approval of the course instructor and student, with
a copy filed in the department. Students cannot be admitted to
doctoral candidacy or certified for graduation with an I grade.

Grades
The University no longer mails end-of-semester grade reports to
students. As soon as they are posted, your grades are available
through OASIS
Web.
