Four Corners Area Educational Leadership Cohort
The
University of South Florida Lakeland campus will be offering the Master's
in Educational Leadership (M.Ed.) program in the Four Corners area starting
this Fall 2004. An informative session will be held on Thursday May 6,
2004, beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Ridgeview Global Studies Academy, 1000
Dunson Road, Davenport. USF Lakeland faculty and staff who will be on
hand to present information relating to program requirements, application
procedures, financial aid and scholarships.

04-23-2004 • USF Lakeland Readies for Spring 2004 Commencement
The
University of South Florida's
Lakeland campus is proud to announce its 2004 Spring Commencement exercises
for Monday, May 3, 2004, 7:00 p.m. in the Youkey Theatre of the Lakeland
Center. Nearly 100 students are expected to graduate from the Lakeland
campus this Spring. The speaker for the spring commencement exercises
will be Circuit Court Judge Susan Roberts.

To Offer FREE Fitness & Nutrition Help to Seniors
The Rath Senior ConNEXTions and Education Center will host a FREE nutrition and exercise seminar on Thursday, April 29, 2004, from 2-3 p.m. Judy Laws, owner of Home Instead, Inc., located in Polk County will speak to seniors about eating more nutritious foods and will show them simple, easy and fun exercises that are designed to help people as they age. 04-12-2004 • Groundbreaking for PCC/USF Lakeland's New Joint Use Technology
Resources Center
USF
Lakeland and campus partner, Polk Community College, will break ground
on the new joint facility,
in an area adjacent to the current campus. The facility will house new
classroom space, new office facilities and new auditoriums. The groundbreaking
ceremony for
the new Joint Use Technology Resources Center is free and open to the
public and will take place at the PCC/USF Lakeland Campus on Wednesday,
May 19, 2004
at 1:00 p.m.

The
USF Alumni Association, Polk County Chapter and USF Bull Club will hold
the 2004 Community Luncheon
on Thursday, May 13, 2004, 11:30 a.m. at the Lakeland Center. The cost
is $20 per person or tables can be purchased for $200. Guest speakers
include USF President Dr. Judy Genshaft, Football Coach Jim Leavitt,
Basketball Coach Robert McCullum and USF Lakeland Vice President & CEO

04-02-2004 • Saxena Family Endowed Lecture Series Accepting Nominations
The
University of South Florida Lakeland Campus announced today that it is
accepting nominations for the upcoming Saxena Family Endowed Lecture
Series which is scheduled to host its first event in the fall. The lecture
series was established through an endowment from the Saxena family to
USF Lakeland to bring distinguished speakers and educational events to
the Lakeland service area.

The
University of South Florida Lakeland announces that Ted Henter, renowned
software developer for the visually impaired, will present the final
IT Colloquium of the spring term entitled, “Challenges of a blind
student, software developer and entrepreneur.” The Colloquium will

USF Lakeland
Effective February 16, 2004, Dr. Curtis W. Wienker will be taking on the role of Interim Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs at USF Lakeland. Wienker has enjoyed a distinguished career at USF in the Department of Anthropology, was Associate Dean in the College of Undergraduate Studies and now holds the title of Professor Emeritus. He will be taking on the role of Interim Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs through the summer in Lakeland.

iGroup UMA (International Group for Universal Mathematics Access) will

group is comprised of 8 individuals from around the globe (2 from Austria,
1 from Ireland 2 from the University of Paris, 3 from the US) and is
funded through the USF Office of Sponsored Research and USF Lakeland

Lakeland Professor Rosemarie Lamm has been awarded a $132,974 grant from
the Retirement Research Foundation to research aging, chronic illnesses
and other services needed by Central Florida senior citizens.
