Dr. Gregory Paveza Joins
USF Lakeland
LAKELAND,
FL (August 7, 2004) - Dr.
Gregory Paveza will be taking on the role of Interim Associate Vice
President of Academic Affairs at USF Lakeland. Dr. Paveza, a professor
in the School of Social Work, is a teacher and scholar of national reputation.
Dr. Paveza just completed his one-year Fellowship with the American
Council on Education (ACE) at the Northern Illinois University and he
is the recent past president of the USF Faculty Senate.
Dr. Paveza earned
a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Hawaii and a
Doctorate in Public Health Sciences from the University of Illinois
at Chicago. Prior to obtaining his doctorate, Dr. Paveza was a clinical
social work practitioner and a family service agency administrator.
He has served on the faculty at the School of Public Health at the University
of Illinois at Chicago and served as the Director of a Research Center
within the Veterans Affairs Health Care system. He joined USF in 1994
as a faculty member at the Florida Mental Health Institute and is currently
a faculty member in the School of Social Work, College of Arts and Sciences.
His teaching responsibilities have principally involved teaching social
work students about research methods and statistics. His research interests
focus on issues related to aging, particularly elder mistreatment.
