LAKELAND,
FL (May 2, 2005) - The
University of South Florida's Lakeland campus will host the Spring
2005 Commencement ceremony on Monday, May 9, 2005, 7:00 p.m. in
the Youkey Theatre of the Lakeland Center. Nearly 150 students are
expected to graduate from the Lakeland campus this spring.
The Distinguished Service Award recipient and Keynote Speaker for
the spring ceremony is Steven J. Scruggs, Executive Director of
the Lakeland Economic Development Council. Throughout Steve's 17-year
career with the LEDC, his knowledge, dedication to excellence and
involvement in the community has helped to shape Lakeland's current
economic status. An enthusiast for education and a friend of USF
Lakeland, Steve recognizes enhancing economic development will only
be realized by improving our quality of education within the local
area. His steadfast support has been instrumental throughout the
planning of USF Lakeland's new primary campus located at the eastern
intersection of the Polk Parkway and Interstate 4.
Stacie Dailey will receive the USF Lakeland Outstanding Senior Award.
Graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Finance, she has maintained
a high grade point average while serving as an active member in
the Student Government Association as Treasurer and holding a job
at Winter Haven Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep.
