Saxena Family Endowed Lecture
Series Accepting Nominations
LAKELAND,
FL (April 02, 2004) - The
University of South Florida Lakeland Campus announced today that it
is accepting nominations for the upcoming Saxena Family Endowed Lecture
Series which is scheduled to host its first event in the fall. The lecture
series was established through an endowment from the Saxena family to
USF Lakeland to bring distinguished speakers and educational events
to the Lakeland service area.
"We are excited about this opportunity
to bring the first of many outstanding public lectures that will be
made possible through the Saxena Family Endowed Lecture Series," said
Dr. Preston Mercer, Campus Vice-President and CEO. "This lecture series
will be a valuable resource for our students and will compliment existing
educational arts programs in the community."
The Saxena Family Endowed
Lecture Series is made possible by Mr. and Mrs. D. "Sax" Saxena of Lakeland,
the founder of the Lakeland-based consulting engineering firm ASC geosciences,
inc. where his two sons, Anu Saxena and Jay Saxena are also owners.
"Input
from the public is vital to the success of this endeavor," states Anu
Saxena. "The Lakeland area and surrounding community is always eager
for opportunities to enhance public knowledge and educational opportunities."
To
propose a speaker, please log onto the USF Lakeland website at www.lakeland.usf.edu/Saxena.
The form prompts you to provide background information and contact information
to better assist with selecting speakers.
Topics for the upcoming lecture
series will be announced in the coming months. For more information
on the lecture series or on the Saxena Family Endowment, please contact
Executive Director of Development, Dr. Al Sistrunk at (863) 667-7024.
