Staff Members at USF Lakeland
LAKELAND,
FL December 03, 2003) - The
following individuals have recently joined the USF Lakeland staff:
Brian Beatty, Program Assistant, Senior Academy and Educational
Outreach. Beatty is responsible for the establishment and coordination
of the Senior Scholars program at USF Lakeland, a program serving as a
continuing education program for senior citizens. He also promotes and
assists with the Polk County Caregivers program. A graduate of Florida
Southern College, Beatty is currently working on his MBA. He plans to
be married in June 2003.
Kristi Brown, Administrative Assistant, Administration.
Brown serves as assistant to the Vice President and his staff. She coordinates
course information for the on-line Nutrition course taught by campus Vice-President
and CEO, Dr. Preston Mercer in addition to assisting with Senior Scholars
classes and other administrative duties. Brown is an accomplished vocalist,
serving on praise and worship teams across the nation. She and her husband,
Darrin are the proud parents of their daughter Kendall.
Susan Earl, Assistant Director, Institutional Research.
Earl is currently responsible for conducting research studies in support
of Lakeland campus strategic planning, institutional effectiveness and
SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools) reaffirmation. A Lakeland
resident, her area of expertise is quantitative and qualitative research
methods. Earl is currently enrolled in the doctoral program in higher
education administration at USF Tampa.
Lynda Fletcher, Program Assistant, Institutional Effectiveness.
Fletcher is primarily responsible for assisting in the research of Institutional
Effectiveness and for creating reports based on this research. A graduate
of Florida Southern, Fletcher is the mother of Lindsay and Lauren.
Dawn Lengel, Coordinator of Information Publication Services/Web
Designer. Lengel is the primary contact and designer of the USF
Lakeland website. Her responsibilities include reorganizing and maintaining
USF Lakeland’s presence on the web. Lengel is a 1998 graduate of
USF, where she received her Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Science
and Computer Engineering.
La’Tevia M. Lowe, Academic Advisor. As Academic
Advisor for the College of Business, Lowe advises students majoring in
the field of business. She assists students with class selection, registration
and other student related issues. A USF alumnus, Lowe has previously taught
middle school courses and enjoys practicing her talent for interior design
in her spare time.
Kim Mitchell, Program Assistant in Human Resources.
Mitchell is responsible for taking care of benefits, job candidate reviews,
payroll, and appointment processing. Prior to joining the USF Lakeland
family, Mitchell was employed with USF Tampa for 17 years. She is the
wife of Tom Mitchell and the mother of Olivia.
Kathy J. Prevatt, Program Assistant. In this position,
Prevatt provides academic support to faculty, staff and students in Arts
and Sciences and Educational Leadership. She has been employed with the
University of South Florida for 16 years. She is the wife of an Air Force
serviceman, currently serving in Kuwait.
Dianne Galyon Seward, Coordinator of Financial Aid.
Seward is responsible for coordinating all processes regarding Financial
Aid on the Lakeland campus. Seward has used her talents at several institutions
including USF in the past. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Communication
from North Carolina State University.
Betty Sue Teets, Academic Advisor. As Academic Advisor
for the College of Arts and Sciences on the Lakeland campus, Teets primarily
advises students regarding major and course selection, schedules courses
and assists in interpretation of USF policies and procedures. Teets also
serves as primary advisor for the new BS in AS degree and as a campus
recruiter. She currently serves on the Lakeland Chamber of Commerce Host
Task Force and as a member of the Lakeland Downtown Chapter of American
Business Women.
Lisa Wetmore, Academic Advisor. Wetmore provides academic
advising, transcript evaluations and program support for the new Information
Technology Department housed on the Lakeland campus. She has served in
various roles in the USF Lakeland Student Services department in the past.
Wetmore received her M.A. in Guidance Counseling Education from USF in
1996 and is a certified Rehabilitation Counselor.
PROMOTIONS:
Joyce Hunsuckle was recently promoted to Program Assistant
for the College of Education. Her responsibilities include initiating
and monitoring the hiring of adjunct and traveling professors as well
as taking a proactive role in the growth of her assigned programs, departments,
and colleges.
Karen Konrath, formerly the Media Center Coordinator
is now the Assistant Director of Media Services. Konrath’s new title
gives her responsibility for all media services on the Lakeland campus.
This includes overseeing transmission of televised courses transmitted
to the local campus and the video conference courses held on the campus.
Brenda Peterson was recently promoted to Program Assistant
for the College of Engineering. Her responsibilities include initiating
and monitoring the hiring of adjunct and traveling professors as well
as taking a proactive role in the growth of her assigned programs, departments,
and colleges.
Imani Harris was recently promoted from Secretary for
Student Services to Program Assistant for Financial Aid. As part of her
new responsibilities, Harris will assist new staff member, Dianne Seward
in scholarship organization and student assistance.
