Rath Center presents first Lunch & Learn class Feb. 1
LAKELAND,
FL (January 24, 2008) - The University of South Florida Lakeland Rath Senior ConNEXTions and Education Center presents its first Lunch & Learn program Feb. 1 with “Medicare Defined.” The free class runs from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.at the Rath Center, 1350 East Main Street, C200, Bartow.
Advance registration is required. To register, contact Holly Sigsbee at hsigsbee@lakeland.usf.edu or 863-533-5925 Lunch is not provided, so please bring your own.
The new Lunch & Learn program gives adults 50+ the opportunity to explore timely topics in a friendly classroom environment – at no cost. The following classes are scheduled:

Feb. 8: Injury Prevention for Grandparents
• Feb. 15: Stress and Health
• Feb. 22: 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s
• Feb. 29: Seniors vs. Crime
• March 21: Healthy Aging
• March 28: Hearing Loss
• April 4: Why Bother: the Importance of Hospice Care and Advanced Directives
• April 11: Florida Backyard Wildlife
• April 18: Chronic Pain
• April 25: Understanding the Appraisal Process
The USF Lakeland Rath Center is dedicated to the education, care, and support of older adults. It aims to enhance awareness, knowledge, support, and resources concerning all issues related to older adults, while also providing a variety of educational seminars. The Rath Center also houses numerous advisory committees comprised of individuals from the community who are committed to serving the older adult population in Polk County and beyond.
