Expert to address wireless technology at USF Lakeland Public invited to free event Sept. 19
LAKELAND,
FL (September 12, 2007) - As more and more households and businesses embrace the wireless way of life, opportunities are becoming more prevalent in the fields of programming, networking and technology in general.
At the University of South Florida Lakeland’s Information Technology Colloquium on Sept. 19, 2007, Phillip J. DuMas, director of research, development and engineering, F4W, Inc., will discuss how to make the most of today’s cutting edge of wireless technology.
The event, which is free and open to the public, takes place from noon to 1 p.m. in LAC 1280 at USF Lakeland, 3433 Winter Lake Rd.
DuMas is a network and technology professional with more than 16 years of experience designing, implementing and maintaining some of the most unique and complex networks in the world. He designed the recovery network the U.S. Coast Guard used for rescue operations immediately after Hurricane Katrina. Actively involved in academia, he holds over 22 industry certifications in networking and network security.
The IT colloquium series, which began in 2002, features USF Lakeland faculty, community members and visiting professors and aims to expand the scope of traditional computer science education into a broader set of disciplines more in tune with the needs of modern society and business. Sponsored by the university’s IT department, it is scheduled for the third Wednesday of each month at noon at USF Lakeland.
