Celebrate Multicultural Week Sept. 20-23
LAKELAND,
FL (September 11, 2007) - The Diversity Partnership encourages central Floridians to celebrate Multicultural Week Sept. 20-23, 2007.
Activities begin Thursday, Sept. 20, with “How to Leverage your Competitive Edge Around Diversity,” a free conference for business, education, health and community organizations from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in the Lakeland Technology Building on the PCC/USF Lakeland campus. To register call (863) 667-7812.
The Greater Lakeland Multicultural Festival happens Friday, Sept. 21, from 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. at Lake Mirror Park in Lakeland. Food, music, dancers and vendors will be featured. A VIP reception takes place 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the Magnolia Building, and a College Students Multicultural Celebration is scheduled from 9:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. in the Peggy Brown Building.
On Saturday, the scene shifts to the Polk Museum of Art for Family Day: A Carnival of Cultures from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Entertainment and fun art activities that celebrate the world’s diverse cultures are planned for the entire family. Events conclude Sunday with the Religion for Education initiative, when various local religious institutions will encourage their members to go back to school.
