Enrollment Continues to
Rise
At USF Lakeland
LAKELAND,
FL (September 09, 2003) - Once
again, enrollment at the Lakeland campus of the University of South Florida
has reached record numbers. Over 1700 students have enrolled for courses
on the local campus. This number reflects a 39% increase of on-campus
students from the Fall 2002 enrollment. More than 350 of these students
are currently enrolled in courses at distant, “twig” locations
such as South Florida Community College in Avon Park.
“We are proud of our new enrollment figures and will continue
to meet the needs of students in our service area,” stated Dr. Preston
Mercer, Vice-President and Campus Executive Officer of the local campus. “As
we continue to grow, we will continue to serve our students in the manner
to which they have become accustomed: with excellence and a commitment
to student achievement.”
In addition to growing student numbers, the campus is also growing in
the number of full-time faculty members. Eight new full-time faculty
members have joined the growing campus family. Searches are still underway
for additional faculty members.
