Why doesn't my Library ID Number work?

Library ID Numbers are reactivated each term. New ID cards must be registered through the Circulation Department. If you have a USF Card or Library Card and the number isn't working email libcard@lib.usf.edu with the following information:

  • Your name
  • Your 14 digit Library ID number
  • Your Social Security Number
  • Your mailing address
  • Your email address

If it is more convenient, you can visit or call the USF Library Circulation Department nearest you:

  • Lakeland Campus Circulation – (863) 667-7817
  • Tampa Campus Circulation - (813) 974-1611
  • Sarasota Campus Circulation - (941) 359-4305
  • St. Pete Campus Circulation - (727) 873-4405

Renewals

Lakeland Library renewals are processed in person or electronically via the online renewal. The Library permits unlimited renewals. Materials held or recalled for another patron may not be renewed. Telephone renewals are not permitted.

     Media Resources
Videos and DVDs may not be renewed.

     Library Reserve.
Reserve materials may not be renewed.

Book Drop

Please note of the following guidelines regarding the USFL Library book drop in the parking lot.

    • The book drop is for USF books only. The PCC Library has its own book drop at its entrance.

    • The book drop is emptied once a day only, Monday through Friday, at approximately 9:30 AM. Items put in the drop box after that time will be checked in the library system the following day (or the next day the library is open in case of week-ends and holidays). Take this in consideration if you are returning items near their due date.

    • You can return books from all USF Libraries in the drop box - namely the Lakeland Library, the Tampa Main Library, the St. Petersburg Poynter Library, the Sarasota/Manatee Cook Library, the Shimberg Health Sciences Library and the Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health Institute Library.

    • However, please return the following at the front desk, to avoid additional late fines and/or replacement fees due to damage:
        • Videos, DVDs, CDs and all other non-book items
        • Items on reserve
        • Items received by inter-library loan (ILL)
        • Non-standard size items like “big books” and kits"

Fines

    Lakeland Library

The Lakeland Library charges 25 cents per book per day for overdue books. Fines may be paid in Banner or at the Cashier's office during business hours. Materials borrowed via Interlibrary Loan incur an immediate $10.00 per item fine and temporary suspension of library privileges. Fines in excess of $20.00 results in temporary suspension of library privileges (including access to the self-renewal system). Recall due dates supersede the original due date - FINES ARE BASED ON THE RECALL DUE DATE.

     Lakeland Library Reserve

      Reserve fines are as follows:

      • 2 or 3 hour materials: Overdue materials are charged $1.00 per hour with a $10.00 maximum;
      • 1, 3 and 7 day materials: Overdue materials are charged $1.00 per day with a $10.00 maximum

Fines may be paid in Banner or at the Cashier's office during business hours.

    Media Resources

Videos and DVDs incur fines at a rate of $2.00 per video per day.

Information regarding payment of library files:

Payments made online to USF Oasis/Banner accounts cannot be specifically designated to pay library fines. If you wish to ensure a payment is applied directly to a library fine balance, payments can be made in one of the following ways with a request that the payment be designated for library fines:

      1. Pay the fine in person at the Cashier's office.
      2. Send by mail to the Cashier's office with a copy of the library invoice.

Lost Materials

You are responsible for lost material replacement costs. To avoid additional fine accrual, immediately report lost materials to the Circulation Desk. Failure to return or renew overdue materials results in their being deemed "lost" and billed to you. Delinquent charges are sent to Accounts Receivable and must be paid in the Cashier's Office.

Holds and Recalls

Materials identified in the catalog as being on loan may be held or recalled for you after the patron in possession has had the item for three weeks. You can request a hold and recall at the circulation desk.

Please Note: Recall due dates supercede the original due date. Please return recalled items immediately to avoid incurring fines.
