Frequently
Asked Questions
What is a Cluster?
A cluster is a group of students who all follow the same course sequence,
including participation in field experiences.
What is the purpose of a Cluster?
Cluster schedules are devised to guarantee you will get all the classes
you need within a five semester course track and to assist our department
in scheduling courses each semester.
Why is it important for me to be in a Cluster?
A cluster provides students with a valuable support group. It allows
students to take courses in the proper sequence, guarantees a place
in classes,
and assures placement in internships.
How many internships will I have?
There are three levels of internships. Level I internship is 2 half or
1 whole day per week. Level II internship is the equivalent of 2 days
per week. Placements are determined by your USF supervisor. Level III
internship will be full-time, Monday through Friday. Placement is determined
by the school board of the county in which you apply within the USF service
area.
Are there any deadlines I need to be aware of?
There are deadlines to apply for admission to the university, college
and program, application for Level III internship and graduation.
There are also deadlines for submitting scores from the Florida
Teacher Certification Exam (FTCE).
The cluster program’s deadline is June 1 through August
1. All admission requirements to USF, the College of Education,
and the Lakeland campus cluster program, and all required
documents should be submitted beginning June1 and must be
received by the Lakeland Campus Education Academic Advisor
by August 1.
