Career Assessments
Successful career choices are a result of taking the time
to plan and thoroughly get to know yourself in relationship to the
world of work and determine where you would be happiest in the job
market. If you aren't sure which career path you should follow,
career assessments can measure your interests, abilities and values
and point you in the most appropriate direction. Many times career
assessments can validate what you already know about yourself and
assure you that you are on the right path.
Career assessments are available at the Lakeland Career Center or
by visiting on-line resources such as the Interest Profiler via
Florida
eChoices. These assessments also link to detailed information
on specific careers. Additional resources including composing your
own Career Portfolio may be found at FACTS.org.
Career Information
Library and Career Exploration
The USF Lakeland Career Library has a comprehensive set
of career books and video tapes covering all phases of the career
path from career choice, to all facets of the job search process,
as well as extensive information on national and international employers.
Up-to-date information on specific careers may also be found in
the Occupational
Outlook Handbook. Also available are videos on salary negotiations,
job searching, resumes, cover letters and interviewing skills.
